Got a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 8 speed automatic. Lately when I shift from park to reverse, there’s a delay of about 3 seconds before it actually engages and then it clunks into gear. Forward gears are fine, no slipping or harsh shifts once driving. The transmission fluid level is okay and doesn’t smell burnt. I’m worried this is the beginning of a bigger failure. I need a shop that can fix slipping gearbox Dubai if it gets worse, but right now it’s just the reverse delay. I saw Dynostar’s gearbox page and they mention diagnosing valve body issues which I’ve heard can cause this symptom. Has anyone here had a delayed reverse engagement that was fixed by something simple like a transmission software update or a solenoid replacement? Or am I looking at a full rebuild? I’m trying to decide if I should trade the car in now or try to fix it. The car has 140,000 km on it. Any experience with the ZF 8 speed in particular would be super helpful. Thanks everyone.
