Flying Spur gearbox acting a bit lazy lately, any Sharjah specialists for Bentleys?
Moved the family over to the Al Majaz waterfront area about six months ago and my 2014 Flying Spur has been coping with the Sharjah traffic surprisingly well considering it’s more used to long highway stretches between Dubai and Abu Dhabi but I’ve started noticing the ZF box doesn’t drop into eighth gear as eagerly as it used to and there’s a slight delay when I shift from park to reverse first thing in the morning before the fluids warm up properly, and I’m trying to get ahead of it before I end up stranded on the side of the E311 with a transmission warning light and a whole lot of regret. I’m not particularly keen on trucking the car all the way to the dealer in Dubai just for a fluid service and diagnosis because frankly the logistics are a headache and the last time I went that route for a simple suspension issue it took two weeks to get an appointment, so I’ve been quietly asking around if anyone knows of a Luxury Bentley Gearbox Workshop Sharjah that actually stocks the correct ZF Lifeguard fluid and has the proper diagnostic kit to reset the adaptation values on these heavier GT cars. I’m not expecting a five star lounge with espresso like the dealer but I do need someone who treats a Flying Spur with a bit more care than they would a Sunny, and who understands that these ZF 8HP units are pretty robust if serviced correctly but can turn into a nightmare if someone just dumps universal ATF in there and calls it a day. Anyone had a good experience with a local independent for a Bentley or even a Continental GT around here, just trying to figure out if it’s worth the drive into the industrial side or if I should just bite the bullet and book the Dubai appointment.
